You Should Not Be Caught Dead In…..
Hey guys. This is the first installment of the “You should not be caught dead in” thread. As you assumed, this thread will consist of things you just should never wear. Period.
UGGs, those furry boots that your girlfriend wears when it’s raining or snowing, are pretty much a staple for girls where the climate is chilly and when they feel like dressing down and being comfortable. Unfortunately, a couple of guys have taken a little too much notice. Specifically, a few celebrities have taken it upon themselves to demonstrate there “resourcefulness.”
My advice, please don’t fall for the hype. Don’t be caught wearing these. Please….

If you feel good, You look good
Easy on that sugar, bud - eating less sugar can significantly reduce your calorie intake and help you shave off those extra pounds of unwanted winter insulation. FYI: carbohydrates are sugar. Therefore, it is also necessary to ease up on the bread and pasta this summer. Instead, increase your protein intake. However, if you MUST eat carbs, make sure you eat multi-grain or whole wheat carbohydrates.
Lighten up on the booze - The summer time heat brings the summer time booze. Drink responsibly. If you must have beer with the boys, drink light beer. You are better off drinking two light beers than one regular beer. If you want a cocktail, choose a lightly colored one instead of a dark one (for instance, opt for a vodka tonic rather than a whiskey coke). The darker the alcohol, the more sugar it has and hence the more calories. Beer guts, no glory.
Keep it bumpin' - Summer time brings a lot of action and excitement. Thus, keep it moving...literally! There is no need to imitate Billy Blanks and attempt to do 300 round house kicks in under a minute. However, look into playing some sports with your buddies, taking an afternoon jog, or simply jumping rope. Whichever activities you choose to get you moving, try to make sure that you do them at least 3-4 times a week. Yeah sure jogging, playing sports, or doing cardio will help you shed pounds but it won’t get you cut. If you want to develop a really nice physique go to the gym and go as often as necessary. Typically, you should go to the gym 2 – 4 for times a week for 1 to 1.5 hours. Staying longer and going to the gym more is just doing way too much. And while you are working out, try to stick to the free weights that don’t restrict your range of motion. A consistent regimen will definitely give you that physique that makes your clothes look like they were made for you. Who knows maybe you’ll get closer to that “V” physique that girls drool over
Be your own chef - Stop spending money at expensive restaurants that serve over sized portions. Save your dough for some other more fulfilling summer activities (aka partying!) Consider cooking instead of eating out. When you cook for yourself, you can save a significant amount of money while watching your waistline.
Additionally, it is definitely wise to….
Break the fast. Eat a wholesome breakfast.
Easy on the lunch. Eat a light lunch: for example, a sandwich with a lean protein along with some whole or multi- grain carbs.
Ditch the carbs. Prepare yourself a high protein meal with vegetables for dinner.
Stay energized. Munch on Mini Snacks in between meals to keep your metabolism up
Don't Stuff yourself. Make sure you meals are not necessarily large, but nutrient rich
Eat your greens. Incorporate a lot more fruits and vegetables into your diet
A wise man once said “If you feel good, you’ll look good” or was it the other way around. The fact of the matter is that if you take care of your body, you will feel good in the clothes you wear. If you take care of your style, then you will feel better about yourself. Therefore, it is a win win situation. So what are you waiting for ?.... get up!
Wedding Guest Style Guide
Know that Black is Whack (at least at a wedding it is) - Let us rephrase that. We are sick and tired of seeing men drop the ball when dressing up for a wedding. Although it is conventional, wearing a black or navy blue suit to a wedding is tired, boring, and unattractive! With the exception of the groom and groom’s men, black suits should only be worn to interviews, work, and funerals. Nothing is worse than wearing a dark mundane suit to a wedding full of vibrant colors. If you do not own a lightly colored suit, consider wearing a simple ensemble: a dress shirt, tie, dress slacks, and dress shoes. However, if you are worried about being under dressed, wear a fitted vest or blazer. There is no need to try to match. The blazer or vest will come off as soon as the reception gets underway.
Know Your Shoes - Yes, it is important to wear nice dress shoes to a wedding. However, remember that you are expected to boogie at the reception. Wear comfortable shoes to impress the ladies with your dancing skills.
Know your place. I know it is tempting but you can not out dress the groom, period.
Additional Know Know’s:
Jeans. Simply unacceptable.
Clip on bow ties (your not 7 anymore). If you decide to wear a bow tie, wear an adult one. Bow ties are not that hard to tie..
Sneakers. No matter how much of a casual guy you are.
T-shirts and anything else too casual.
Weddings can be fun and rather productive if you approach them appropriately. Remember to be aware of your environment, ditch tradition, pack some tic-tacs, dress comfortably and cross your fingers that the reception is not dry…..

An All White Affair

Summer time is finally here. Besides summer bunnies, barbecues and vacations, there are other things in summer to look forward to...especially the one, the only, the classic.... summer "All white party"!
Some white parties can be more formal than others (i.e. some parties may require you to dress in all white from top to bottom); while other parties may be a bit more casual. Whatever the case may be, here are some general tips to look fresh at an all white affair:
Wear WHITE - As obvious as it may sound, you would be surprised about how many off white dress shirts you can find in a boutique or department store. If you are not sure if a dress shirt is white or off white, compare the item to a different article of clothing that is certifiably white. Just because the tag on the item claims that the dress shirt is white, it does not necessarily mean that it is the white you need.
Linen is not mandatory- A nice linen shirt is usually a guy’s first choice when dressing for an all white party. Try to be a little more creative this year and explore your options a bit. A white v-neck or short sleeve dress shirt is just as nice as a linen shirt, but distinctly classic.
Ditch the Cap. White hats are a little lame. Just don't do it! It looks tacky and somewhat whack!
Accessorize. Consider wearing a chain or necklace. Since you and every other guy in the party will be wearing white, this will help you stand out. If you are choosing to wear white shoes, you might want to sport a white watch to complete the fit. Similarly, if you are wearing a silver chain, wear a silver watch to compliment.
Haters on Layers. Unless its an upscale professional event, try not to overdo it by layering up (i.e. wearing a blazer) Choosing to wear a jacket or sweater will lead to a lot of sweating and will stain your outfit. Remember, don't do too much... it is the summer time!
Get the right fit. As we all know, white clothing can make a person appear plumper than they really are. Therefore, you really want to make sure that you wear a flattering fit. Ask your friends about how your outfit looks. Their brutal honesty will end up working in your favor.
White Blazers: This is always a touchy subject because a white blazer is usually a big hit or a big miss. If you are going to wear one, try to make sure it is little snugger than your usual blazer. Also, by wearing a white blazer, you are pretty much ensuring that you understand the need to wear white shoes as well. If you wear black shoes and/or black belt with a white blazer, you may appear tacky. Also remember to wear a white blazer with a lightly colored shirt (white, beige, silver or a pastel).
Those Jeans: Medium to dark colored jeans will work as long as they compliment your white outfit. If you really want to make an impression, try wearing white jeans. But be careful. All white jeans are tricky to pull off. Make sure you buy some classy thin material ones.
White Jeans: Yeah I know what you’re thinking. But despite your ill assumptions, white jeans are making a comeback. More importantly, they can be a classy addition to your all white outfit. It offers a clean but super casual look to your unique style.
Shades: Try to wear sunglasses that are not black. Black shades, white outfit, too predictable...too boring.
Simple Shoes. Wear either nice designer sneakers or loafers. There is no point in spending a lot of money on nice white dress shoes when they will end up being dark brown dress shoes by the end of the night. Make sure that the shoes you wear are a pair of shoes that you won’t mind getting a little dirty.
Everybody enjoys an all white party! So hit up as many all white parties as you can while the summer lasts. As always, party in style and enjoy.
